FAQ

Why uranium glass jewelry?
I have been collecting uranium glassware and figurines for quite some time. I discovered that uranium glass beads existed when I found some in my own stash of vintage Czech glass beads. It was 6 years after purchasing them. From that moment on I started working on rosaries and other jewelry that incorporated the newly found beads. I’ve been making jewelry since I was old enough to string them and this discovery revived my interest in making new, original creations.

Is uranium glass jewelry safe?
The jewelry that I make is safe! I test every piece with a gieger counter to ensure it has a stable reading within safe limits.  Most uranium glass beads are made from uranium glass that has been mixed with other colours, further diluting the glass. Uranium glass level of radioactivity varies by piece, ranging from less than 1 percent to up to 25 percent by weight. According to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission there is no recognized danger to handling or using uranium glass. That said, there is uranium glass jewelry out there that has been made with broken glassware, that may no longer be stable, or made with a piece of glassware that has an unusually high reading. Please be sure to ask the makers if they test their products for safety levels, before purchasing. Read More Here About Safety & Concerns

How do you make your miniature sculptures?
My glass dome pendants with miniature sculptures are made with polymer clay, and painted with acrylic paint. The legible scale miniature books are purchased directly from the artist, and others are printed and built by me.

Do you do custom designs?
Yes! I occasionally take on commissions for fully customized jewelry. I will not take on a commission that I don't think I can execute to the best of my abilities. Please feel free to contact me, and I will be able to tell you if it is a challenge I am willing to take on. I price customs by the cost of materials and time it takes for me to make. If special beads or parts are needed for a commission, I work that into the cost as well. Please contact me at [email protected] for inquiries.

Do you sell any of your uranium glass beads?
I am not a bead reseller. I purchase most of my beads directly from the bead makers in Prague, including most vintage beads that I use. I occasionally will use reclaimed vintage beads, or beads from resellers, if I cannot support the bead maker directly. I do not sell the beads from my stash, however.

What is with the symbol on all your products?
The symbol you see in my webpage and all my packaging is my artist's symbol. It's an image that has been in my head since I was a child, and how I sign off my drawings and other art. There is no specific origin, other than it is something I have always seen in my mind.

What is your return policy?
Sales are final. However, if an item arrives damaged please contact me immediately. All packages are shipped with insurance. If an item arrives broken or damaged, please send an e-mail to [email protected] within 24 hours of delivery, so that a claim can  be started with the shipping provider.
