This necklace was built from vintage uranium crystal elements. I added in several vintage Czech glass faceted beads, to make it as extravagant as possible.
The two large rose and jonquil uranium crystal elements are reclaimed vintage pieces that would have originally been in a chandelier. I found the crystals on a vintage necklace, which was broken and missing beads. I utilized every clear crystal that was on the same necklace and two of the uranium crystals. Some original brass hardware has been used, alongside my own bronze hardware. 32 uranium glass beads are on this necklace, 2 uranium crystals, 16 clear crystals, and several clear Czech glass faceted beads.
Necklace has an adjustable opening of 26-30 inches. This necklace was designed to hang at Opera length on the wearer.
Necklace comes gift wrapped and with a UV keychain light.
**Uranium glass contains minute amounts of uranium dioxide, and glows under UV black light. Uranium glass level of radioactivity varies by piece, ranging from less than 1 percent to up to 25 percent by weight, but there is no recognized danger to handling or using uranium glass, according to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Uranium glass beads are even further diluted than the glass in glassware, as it is mixed with other glass to make the beads. Under 50CPM is normal levels of background radiation. Under 100CPM is not thought to have any health effects. Outside air in the United States of America averages around 25CPM. I check all my pieces with a geiger meter to make sure they clock in at safe levels.**
